The most awe inspiring piece of machinery I ever saw

A long, long time ago - as the story goes, I saw the most amazing Ducati sitting by the side of the road. It was a 900SS (the model without the side stand) and the owner had sensibly left the engine running, because he knew it would probably not start again. I was consumed by the desire to own piece of machinery like that. I wasn't old enough for a license yet, but I knew that one day, I would have to own a Ducati.
Fast forward a few decades and several (not Italian) motorbikes later, I finally bought my Ducati. It was love. I dressed it up like a Barbie doll - replaced the rear guard, replaced the tail pipes, customised the number plate. And every time I walked across the car park towards my bike I smiled! It was love.
I have a couple of questions for you. Firstly, why did it take me so long to buy my Ducati when I yearned for one for so long; and secondly, how can I describe the feeling of just absolute rightness?
Where is that rightness for you? I'm not suggesting that you purchase a Ducati, but I'm wondering if you'd give more consideration to following your heart if you knew what it feels like to realise your dream?
